Concordia is one of the most spectacular high-mountain destinations in Gilgit-Baltistan. Located deep in the Karakoram, it is a dramatic meeting point on the Baltoro Glacier route, surrounded by immense glaciers and some of the world’s most celebrated peaks. The journey to Concordia begins in Skardu and continues through Shigar Valley and Askole, the last village before the remote mountain wilderness. From Askole, trekkers follow trails across rugged terrain and the Baltoro Glacier, passing campsites and changing landscapes on the way. The route gradually reveals an extraordinary panorama of towering peaks, including K2, Broad Peak and the Gasherbrum group.

At Concordia, the scale of the Karakoram becomes unforgettable. Glaciers stretch between steep mountain walls, while snow-covered summits rise around the trekking camp. The area is also a staging point for journeys to K2 Base Camp and Broad Peak Base Camp. The traditional K2 trekking route from Skardu passes through Shigar, Dassu and Askole before crossing the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia. K-2

Concordia is a remote wilderness destination, not a casual sightseeing stop. Reaching it involves a demanding high-altitude trek across uneven trails and glacial terrain. Long walking days, cold nights and rapidly changing weather are part of the experience. Travellers should prepare with suitable equipment, allow time to acclimatise and arrange the expedition with experienced local guides and support staff.
