Depart Islamabad early and drive through Haripur and Mansera to join the Karakoram Highway (KKH) at Thakot. The KKH is a marvel of modern engineering and it is being reconstructed jointly by the FWO and our Chinese brothers. From Thakot to Khunjerab, the KKH winds over 887 kms through breath-taking mountain terrain. Shortly after Thakot we will stop to view the FWO monument before arriving at our lunch stop in Besham. Or MansehrA We continue on the fabled Shahrah-e-Resham towards Chilas. Spectacular scenery is our companion and we will cross the sites of two important under construction dams at Dassu and Diamar-Basha. At.
